Native American Designs

1.) Native American bead work is well known for its beauty.
2.) The key part was the mathematical concepts it embodies.
3.) The type of symmetry it was based on was four-fold symmetry.
4.) The four images all have each shape or design repeated 4 times in 4 different corners.
5.) The four images are:
      Embroidery, Plains Indians
      Shoshone Beadwork
      Pawnee Buffalo Hide Drum
      Navajo Rug
6.) Reflection symmetry is when one half of a picture or design is the exact same as the other half but on a different side.
7.) One example of base 4 counting is how tepees were often made with four base poles, each placed in one of 4 directions.
8.) Four fold symmetry #3 was often used for Navajo Sand Paintings.
9.) Four Fold Symmetry #4 was often used for the Yupik Parka decorations.
10.) Four Fold Symmetry #5 is shown by rows and columns.
11.) Native American Beadwork was created before Europeans Arrived.
12.) These designs were used to record messages and historic events, and to help with Math and Science.
